CURB costs less than other parking solutions.
While CURB costs about the same as other automated parking solutions, the actual cost to the purchaser is expected to be far less because of grant funding. Because alternative transportation is an integral part of CURB, the system often qualifies for grant funding which can offset the costs of installing the system. SST has grant writers on staff to assist in identifying and applying for grants.

CURB improves enforcement efficiency.

There is a tremendous amount of money lost to parking violations that are not enforced (ticketed). CURB parking enforcement is based on the real-time status (full, empty, paid, not paid) of every parking spot in the system. CURB pushes notification to enforcement personnel enabling them to respond proactively to violations and prioritize ticketing routes, rather than waste time hunting for violations.

CURB supports “time restricted” and/or “limited free parking.”
Free parking has historically provided cities with an elegant method to encourage the public to patronize downtown merchants while still ensuring sufficient turn over in spaces. CURB allows the city to support local merchants by providing free parking.

CURB assists in raising parking rates.

While parking profit will rise using CURB without increasing parking rates, the system does simplify rate increases. With traditional meters, the “coin barrier” inhibits the raising of parking fees, as most users do not carry sufficient change. By accepting payment electronically, via phone and by subscription/permit, users can readily pay higher rates.

CURB creates new revenue sources.
CURB adds previously untapped revenue opportunities:

1) Bike, motorcycle and scooter parking
2) Bike rental
3) Kiosk advertising

The CURB Kiosk provides advertising options that can act as regular revenue streams. Local merchants can pay to advertise their services and products on the system and even offer free parking or other incentives to shoppers. The system owner can also contract with area visitor and convention bureaus to provide on-street tourist and event information including maps and ticket purchasing.

CURB enables dynamic pricing.
CURB allows rates to be set dynamically, allowing for an increase/decrease in rates to support special events and manage parking during high/low traffic times. Discounted pre‐paid parking, on street merchant validation, and special pricing in certain areas are all tools an owner can implement to maximize revenues. CURB enables the owner to apply usage statistics from the system to develop strategies to further minimize congestion and maximize revenues based on what the market will bear.

CURB prevents piggybacking.

CURB automatically detects the departure of a vehicle and clears the meter. The meter starts running when the next vehicle arrives. The system owner captures and keeps all unused time.
